I can’t tell if Taio Cruz has legitimate staying power, or if he just struck the right chord at the right time. “Dynamite” is my pick for song of the summer, hands down, er, hands up (in the air sometimes). The singer follows in Jay Sean’s footsteps as a British singer with a song too catchy for its own damn good. I heard a radio promo for 101.9 today where Drake says “This isn’t Hip-hop” then “Dynamite” plays. The he says “THIS is Hip-hop,” with B.M.F. proceeding. I had to laugh. The point was that the other station that claims to be Hip-hop (95.3) can’t be, because they play songs like Taio Cruz’s hand raiser. I suppose I agree, but did any of us think it was Hip-hop? Or do we all agree it’s the kind of feel good, high octane dance number that usually grabs everyone come summer time?
