Best Movies of Summer 2010: #6 Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 81%

Opening Box Office: $10.6 Million

As the writer-director behind “Shaun of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz,” Edgar Wright made a name for himself by twisting convention for a refreshing and innovative take on the zombie and cop genres, respectively. Arm him with a comic book tale with a cult following and a young actor who’s every but as talented as he is likable, and “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” becomes a blended whirlwind of snappy visuals, teenage love, and punk-rock sentiment. Pour it out, drink it up, and it tastes like heart-felt inventiveness. Would be #1 on the date-movies-guys-can-tolerate list.
